Huerquehue Lakes Hike

The initial reason for our visit to Pucon, Chile was to take on the Huerquehue Lakes Trek… one of the most popular treks in the Lakes District of Patagonia.  However, upon arrival, we talked to a few trekkers who had already been on the trail, and recommended that we scratch the 4 day hike (which was basically two days in, and two days back out on the same trail), do the day hike instead and add the volcano climb to our itinerary.  This is exactly what we ended up doing and it worked out perfectly.  In addition, we were fortunate enough to meet up again with our friend Roy, who we had initially met in San Pedro a couple of weeks earlier.
